Healing Foundation



The Healing Foundation is a national, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander not-for-profit organisation established to support community-based healing initiatives to address the harmful legacy of colonisation, forced removals, and other past government policies.

They work closely with members of the Stolen Generations who have not had an opportunity to heal from ongoing distress. Through their collective healing approach, we are also increasing focus on reducing the impact of Intergenerational Trauma.

In working towards this goal, the Foundation will focuses its interests on the following three areas:

The Healing Foundation acknowledges those who have walked the healing journey before, those still walking, and those yet to come. The values that remain important to the Foundation as this journey continues are:

The Healing Foundation partners with communities to address ongoing trauma, and was funded by the federal government, following community consultation, to mark the first anniversary of the National Apology to the Stolen Generations. It was the first national Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander organisation established to address their ongoing healing needs.
