Family Assessment Tool, Milliya Rumurra, Broome

 

Overview

This project developed a family assessment support tool (FAST) for the Milliya Rumurra (MR) Rehabilitation Centre in Broome, Western Australia. MR provides treatment, rehabilitation, health and social and mental wellbeing support to community members wishing to address their use of alcohol and other drugs (AOD).

The aim of FAST was to improve the health and quality of life of Aboriginal clients and their families during their AOD treatment. The project utilised a community based participatory research approach and worked with management, clinical and outreach teams, clients, families, community members and service stakeholders.

After development, the assessment tool was be trialled and evaluated for usefulness and effectiveness by the MR clinical and outreach team.
